Hui exhibition in pictures.

The traffic signs showed the way to the attractions on the idyllic grounds.
Each sign represented an area in the colourful, literary theme park. The Wandelgermanen | Strolling Germanics the barefoot path, Murp! the art roadhouse in the garden house or the stairs of Voll beschäftigt | Fully Busy the flatshare within the building, including the basement.
The area was a special pleasure also after dusk. Strands of light embedded in the ground illuminated the cultural heritage in the evening and at night. They can even be switched on by means of a secret mobile phone number that Oliver has stored in his telephone to this day.

Hui backgrounds

Acoustically wrapped in a flatshare-collage with cat's muzzles, one dived deep into the details of the Hui world. The presentation, which can also be found on this website, ran on a snow-white terminal. A display board and heavy folders revealed everything about the characters - including their surnames for the first time. Original props from the novels, such as the raviolid tin from Voll beschäftigt or the house number sign of the real house, which was rescued from the rubble by the buyers of the Wiemelhausen site, were displayed in showcases. By use of a chest the guests were allowed to decide on the content of the future novels - what was deposited here found its way into other works.

Living room

Legendary centrepiece of the Hui world.

The guests were thrilled. There they sat in the room that had been a part of their inner life map for years through the website and the novels! On Hartmut's sofa and in Hartmut's hanging chair, their feet in the fluffy flokati and their fingers on a grey joypad from the first PlayStation.
Hundreds of old video games and VHS films were brought back to life for the centrepiece of the flatshare. Every poster, every piece of furniture and even the photos on the wall matched exactly.
The talk show Hartmut trifft... | Hartmut meets... , which can still be watched today on YouTube, was created in the four walls... with guests like the Donots or Jupiter Jones.
The walls themselves were built by the set designer Rüdiger Klappenbach.

Cellar entry

With further exhibits and reading corner.

Apparently only a transit station, but that's where many got stuck. The best sayings and aphorisms on yellow post-its gathered on the walls. Timeless wisdom on a transient medium. In the glass showcases one could marvel at very special objects that penetrated even deeper into the spirit of the Hui world. The bathing accessories of Ich. Murpy relics, which embodied the joy of the senseless and purposeless. Inaudible cassettes. Unplayable games. Murpy merry purchases off the charts and canon specifications.
The little artifacts, just like the sayings, put you in a good mood - and encouraged you to descend into the dark cellar.

Cellar

Creepy crypt before the feignedly rebuilding.

The red heavy oil tank in the corner. A bathtub, populated by spiders crawling around an old beer barrel. Everywhere nets and weaving in eerie light. The famous parts of a stripped-down car, which long forgotten previous tenants have stored in pieces at some point. And indeed also to be found - many couldn't believe their eyes - the aerial bomb for which the house had to be evacuated at the beginning of the first novel.
Anyone who dared to stay in the horror cellar was allowed to watch the documentary Auf Spurensuche | On Searching for Clues by Jens Mayer on a television set, which tells of the demolition of the original house and the life of its successor and its inhabitants.

Art break

Rest stop exhibition.

The garden house of the cultural asset became the rest stop from Murp!. On the walls there were paintings by Sylvia Witt as well as the fictional artists from the novel such as Felix Berg, Noriko Nomura and of course Ich's girlfriend Caterina Grosse, behind whom in reality Sylvia Witt is also standing. Plus guest works of all kinds and behind the counter always a barista for a cultivated chat about art or the press display.
Outside, Oliver Uschmann held a consultation hour every Friday near the plum trees, where fans could come by as well as young talents with their manuscripts.

Barefoot path

Recreation and a salute from the Strolling Germanics.

At the end of the round trip through the exhibition, there is a short walk along the barefoot path, which was lovingly created by the barefoot guru Burkhard Reinberg especially for Ab ins Buch | Into the Book!. Burkhard Reinberg once accompanied Oliver Uschmann for a large part of the way, when he completed the Strolling Germanics-tour for more than 300 km through the Ruhr area barefoot.
The path on the grounds of the cultural heritage house nottbeck was equipped with listening islands. There the visitors could listen to stories from the Hui world.

Activities

Events during the exhibition.

Hartmut has bumblebees in his butt. There was always something going on during the exhibition.
On the opening day, Thomas Hackenberg hosted a Berlin evening on Feindesland with guest Michael Nast.
On the soccer day, cultural workers and fans kicked on the estate's soccer field before Ben Redeling's sports reading..
There was even a whole music festival, where Dave de Bourg, Everlaunch, Tommy Finke and Axel Bosse, among others, took up the guitar.
A short story contest produced stories in a hartmutesque spirit.
On the final day there was an auction of props and, as a furious finale, the stage version of the first two Hui novels by the Studiobühne Erlangen, directed by Matthias Nadler.
