Active and passive treasures

Active and passive treasures

The agony of choice.

Since Adobe has now simply canceled the entire Flash program, movies are running here showing the interactive files of the treasure chest for a good first impression.
However, it is still possible to browse through the entire interactive files or play the games. However, without connection to the score databases and only for suitable devices. Smartphones and tablets are usually not Flash-compatible. For these devices, the treasure chest opens only passively.
Who would like to have it active and can, downloads the Flash Player at this Website. It is virus-free and works offline, without further installation.
When the player is open, go to Datei/öffnen (File/open) and enter the URL of the Flash file you want to use, which is displayed for each file. And then it can go on actively.
WARNING! The guarantee of freedom from viruses and malware applies only to the files on this website. Opening other files is at your own risk! We advise against it.

Haus der Künste | House of Arts

Haus der Künste | House of Arts

A walk through the old gallery.

Art has a value in itself.
It does not require market value or status.
The House of Arts project began because visual artists were flogging their works on eBay. Works that were highly inspired, with their own language of form and first-class craftsmanship were sold for sums that did not even cover the material. They were in competition with hand-made copies from Chinese painting factories, as well as with "colors on background", which were sold by a good story.
House of Arts was an experiment in the extent to which a combination of stories and good works could achieve appropriate (market) appreciation could achieve. Even if art has a value in itself, artists have to live. In contrast to van Gogh's times, material and food cannot be exchanged for finished pictures today.
There was and is appreciation, but on the whole, art today has to be something to be given freely to the world. Stinginess remains horny. A work of fine art must not cost more than a color copy. Movies, series, games, music, audio books and books must be available for a few cents or be pirated digitally. Legal counter-strategies such as streaming services, flat rates and increased influence of marketing are well-intentioned, but they promote the view that art is nothing more than a means of maximizing profits by carving a product to size for the lowest common denominator.
It is great luck for artists when a work can touch many millions of people at the same time, but not the reason they get up in the morning eager to bring their work to life. Art is a question of good craftsmanship, of inspiration, of practice, of manic diligence, of personal development, of the commitment of time and of even more energy. If the resulting works can no longer finance one's life, art will be pursued at most a hobby, the cultural world becomes poorer and the choice of works smaller for all...
House of Arts luckily not only proved that artistic work is becoming less and less appreciated. The included works were finally able to round off other projects: In the Hui novel Murp!, as well as in the exhibition Into the Book!, the imaginary artists from the gallery were staged and their works were shown.
Because the works actually exist. All created by Sylvia Witt. Signed with her alter egos, but marked by a certain character in the stamp.

Hui-WG | Hui flatshare

Hui-WG | Hui flatshare

The flatshare of the Hui world.

The experience in the WG is more complete when the sound is on.
Anyone who has followed a sitcom for years knows the effect: at some point, you live in the houses of the protagonists. Every corner, every drawer and every hole in the wallpaper becomes familiar. Hartmut has also shared his flatshare for many years in this way with hundreds of thousands of people. While rummaging around on three floors, every single one of them finds a detail that only he notices or that is particularly close to his heart. The dancing mites in the carpet. The bath foam recipes on the edge of the tub. The primordial ground that opens up when you flush the guest bathroom. In the cellar the creepy storage cave of the first novel and the perfectly simulated basement apartment of the second novel. The collection of games for the PlayStation 1 on the living room shelf actually amounts to 350. In the mysterious vacant apartment of the upper floor the dimensional gate opens.
Back in the days when everyone had Flash running on their computers, ten visitors to the virtual flatshare named ten completely different gimmicks that they particularly liked. The virtual apartment is a unique backdrop, a soulful home home and pop-cultural archive.

Wandelgermanen | Strolling Germanics

Wandelgermanen | Strolling Germanics

Games and infos from the Hui-Strolling Germanics world.

The experience in the flatshare is way better when the sound is on.
There is a word that applies to good musicians and good athletes as much as it does to good book worlds. This word is: playfulness. The website for the novel Wandelgermanen | Strolling Germanics put this playfulness into practice in the literal sense. Visitors stroll through the Hohenlohe region and find more in-depth information, detailed quizzes or entire games that are thematically linked to the book down to the smallest detail. In the hardware store, falling tools have to be collected ever more quickly, and in the beverage market, counterfeit money has to be recognized in a hurry. The half-timbered house wants to be rescued by a puzzle, the Japanese can only be calmed down by a round of well-set stones and in the office a hammer-hard difficult top view labyrinth is waiting. The major of the Waldfront turns the wheel. For one of his latest exercises the men have a time limit of 11 minutes and 23 seconds (no more, no less), while at the same time they have to be careful to spare Yannick, who is chasing a friendly rabbit and the ancient Germanic, uncatchable squirrel.
Nerds will recognize how all the challenges gathered here refer to classic titles in video game history. Loyal readers will enjoy the fact that for the first time they can get a picture of Hartmut apart from their own imagination for the first time. He busily waves out of the colorful screen as a scurrying cephalopod.

Ab ins Buch! | Into the Book!

Ab ins Buch! | Into the Book!

Small Flash performance of the exhibition.

For five years, people were able to visit the Hui-WG virtually, but now it suddenly stood as a real place in the summer sun of the province of Münsterland. At the cultural heritage House Nottbeck, Sylvia Witt designed and installed the living room, complete with carpet mites, beaded curtains and a console that can be played on around the clock, the cellar with its oil tank and aerial bomb, and the roadhouse exhibition with its kiosk and café for meetings. Burkhard Reinberg built a barefoot path for walking in the extensive fruit tree meadow. Oliver Uschmann produced with cameraman and director Jens Mayer the interview show that can still be seen on YouTube today called "Hartmut meets...", in which, among others, the Donots, Jupiter Jones or Christian Hirdes were guests.
During the three and a half months there were readings and a short story competition, a festival and a soccer day, an auction and a theatrical play about Hartmut by the Studiobühne Erlangen. Into the Book! is still considered today as by far the most elaborate exhibition that the Museum for Westphalian Literature has ever seen on the cultural heritage. The presentation to be browsed here ran at the time in the anteroom of the living room on a snow-white terminal.

Wortguru | Word guru

Wortguru | Word guru

The word guru introduces himself.

In-depth and stimulating creative writing seminars. Provocative lectures on reality for Germanists. Personal feedback on submitted texts down to the last line. All this and much more got one since 2005 with the word guru.
In the meantime, hundreds of seminars have been held and dozens of literary talents have been successfully mediated, but the guru still enjoys to pass on his knowledge from the bulging practice. However he no longer hangs the offer on quite such a big bell as in the heyday of this uniquely original site, which equates the nurturing of the language with the nurturing of the garden. The amount of potential orders grew over the author's head like the trees of life in the garden, which could still be hugged here and have long since grown into giants of the tundra. Nevertheless the offer remains at this point not only as a web page work of art for itself, but is valid also contentwise further. If the guru between bamboo and bark proves to be fully booked, he will gladly refer the clients to wonderful colleagues like Hendrik Heisterberg, Marion Perko or Kerstin Kipker.

Yannicks Tierarzt | Yannick's veterinary

Yannicks Tierarzt | Yannick's veterinary

The (former) veterinary practice.

"The practice is a mere two minutes from the main train station, and outside, sweaty teenagers, mothers, vagrants and shopkeepers search for ways past each other, while traffic lights click and the air flickers on the asphalt. Inside here at the doctor's, it's cool, and a soft music sits on the old furniture, that you don't know if you're imagining or if he has a radio on somewhere. Everything is old here, but nothing outdated. A room made of trust. On top of the cabinet is a jar in which a blue and red blenny is makes its rounds."
So it is written in the Hui novel Voll beschäftigt | Fully Busy in the chapter Großer Lärm | Big Noise and so worked also the real practice of Dr. Slepitzka, who was once memorialized with this uniquely playful website.
His patients at that time - or better their masters and mistresses - were pleased when visiting the page about the affectionate pictures and animations. Where the cat kneels and the goldfish named Ludwig makes his rounds, the motto "Show don't tell", which is usually reserved for narrative prose, takes effect. While sober websites at best speak of the care and empathy of a veterinarian's practice, it can actually be felt here.

Kulturwelle | Culture wave

Kulturwelle | Culture wave

A musical Memory game.

Of course only with the sound on, the game is complete.
The final project of the Flash game programming course at SGD. Joyfully and furiusly piped in by Tobias Mennemeyer from the sound studio Notaufnahme in Münster.
Finding pairs of pictures already existed in the 12th century with the Japanese game Kai-Awase. At that time it was not played with cardboard cards, but with painted motifs on the inside of shells. The game gained worldwide fame with the Ravensburger Memory. More about the history of this great memory training can be found at the Wandelgermanen | Strolling Germanics in Heubach.
The special feature of Culture wave: You play it digitally - and preferably with sound.

Small flash games

Small flash games

Flash finger exercises.

A tiny selection from more than 5000 files of diligent flash work. Often created in the context of various courses, some of this works were used in modified form in the homepages that can now be seen in the Treasure chest. Rabbit Race, for example, is a result of the first Flash course, diligently carried out with Birgit Ianniello. The original rabbit is by an unfortunately unknown illustrator. In appearance and movement clearly refined, it comes to honor in deep gratitude both with Yannick's veterinary and in the above mentioned game with the Strolling Germanics.
