Construction Workers on the Motorway

No one believes they actually exist.

Daily we sneak along miles and miles of closed highway areas. Uselessly handicapped in our free drive. An irreplaceable damage to the gross national product. And what's too much: Nobody is ever working in these areas! It's all completely pointless!
But they actually do work. Hard. During the day and often at night. More and more and steadily faster. Because the motorways are becoming more and more and destroyed at an ever-increasing rate. The trend to transport everything by truck has been exploding for several years. Transport companies are shooting like mushrooms from the ground. And the vehicles are supposed to get even bigger. Longer and with more payload per wheel.
This means more pressure on the road surface, which in turn means faster and greater damage. The only advantage: more construction workers are hired and paid in order to work on the BABs. And they do exist. Not only the hardly protective barriers of the areas in which they work.
If they didn't exist, soon nobody would have the chance to use a motorway anymore.
Although... maybe this would be a good alternative too.

Trucks on the Motorway.

No one believes they exist in this mass.

Instead of using existing rails and a perfectly developed freight network, somebody decided at some point that it would be a great thing to use the motorways for freight and heavy goods traffic.
Instead of transporting the goods to their final destination in small, light and manoeuvrable vans, the goods are carried by much too heavy, but often underloaded trucks which drive in convoys during the day and stop at night, door to door, one on top of the other, in parking lots for cars as well as far into the entrances and exits. Parking is mandatory. Truck drivers must take their rest periods. Car drivers don't have to. They leave the rest area frustrated and with a contained full bladder. And they have to leave the next one and the the next but one. The unbelievable mass of trucks moving on German motorways only becomes really clear when you take a look at the parking situation at an average evening.
Often the argument is given that we order far too much online instead of being satisfied with the offer in the village shop. But a closer look reveals that the trucks of DHL, DPD, Hermes, UPS and Co. are very limited. You have to be lucky to spot such a vehicle when you try to pass a constantly wide convoy of trucks in the middle lane without an accident.
It remains a mystery how it can be that so many people have to spend the night in trucks on the motorway. But it also remains a mystery why these heavy diesel vehicles are tolerated while there are electric rail vehicles.
No comment. Because the sheer masses are commentary enough.

Beauties on the Motorway.

No one sees it, the surprising perfection.

Sometimes human work is simply beautiful. Even if it shouldn't or shouldn't be there. Sometimes human work lets nature appear different than it is. Also fascinating.
So far only a few pictures from the BAB photos found their way into this category. Therefore all the more remarkable.
